I caught a glimpse of a modern Native American band called "Airo" outside Mount Rushmore's gift shop summer of 2006...
it was warm and a fan was set up in front of this beautiful long haired Indian man.  He beat on the drum and shook his rattle as his hair billowed in the breese...
I had gone on a long journey in search of inspiration after graduation and I knew at that moment I had found it.
Although I didn't get a photograph, I have carried that image with me.  I chose to do my painting from another angle than I was able to view at the time and I have taken some artistic liberties with the composition but the inspiration remains the same.  Thanks Moses.
